Mark Jones Leather Design: I am a professional leather craftsman and designer. What was a high school hobby for pocket money became my occupation. In the late 80's after my first foray with a shop in Newcastle, I moved to Sydney,studying Shoe making and Art/drawing, before re-launching my work with all new designs. I was one of the first awarded a "Craftmark" by the Craft Council of Australia and went on through their events and promotion to send work to German Design Fairs and to go with my work to the San Francisco Gift Fair, becoming involved too in putting other Craftspeople into U S trade shows , setting up a joint venture with Austrade between 2000 and 2004. In 2005 researching trade shows in Europe I continued my design studies in Italy. After taking time with some family business affairs, I had built a purpose designed Studio and office in 2006.. My involvement with the wonderful T'Arts gallery in Adelaide as a member and an annual themed exhibition there, and the exciting period of Leather Design we are in keeps me stimulated with new designs and busy in production.
